Museum Exhibits: Fish Farm, Boston Museum of Science
Our Fish Farming interactive kiosk at the Museum of Science, Boston, is part of the Making Models exhibit (opened June, 2003) which explores all kinds of models and their role in science. Based on our Sick Fish lab in EcoBeaker®, the Fish Farming interactive asks visitors to control a disease on a fish farm by changing the concentration of the fish or by vaccinating a percentage of the fish. Visitors can see how diseases spread through a population, and learn how vaccination is related to population density in disease transmission. The interactive also pioneered a new sound-enabled graph that lets visually-impaired visitors play the game. Museum testing found visitors spend an average of 4 minutes playing with Fish Farming.
