Testing the Impact of Microplastics on Fish Physiology
The assessment asks students to test the hypothesis that the ingestion of microplastics alters fish physiology. Specifically, students explore whether the increased ingestion of microplastics impair fish digestion system function. They are presented with data on nine variables gathered from studies on this hypothesis including things such as fish species, fish sex, microplastic levels in fish, inflammation levels, and digestive enzyme levels. Students are then asked to plot three predictions drawn from the hypothesis by graphing the appropriate variables for each prediction. Each graph represents a different task in the assessment.
